While working for HOPE for Brevard helping take care of many cats that needed homes, Hemi came in severely dehydrated, kidneys shutting down, possible cancer and starving. we immediately formed a bond. A couple of months of treatment to make him stronger, and my wife and I decided to take him home as a forever foster. We took him into our home in June of 2016, with the vet telling us he only had 3-4 months to live. We called him our Hospice Cat, and we tried to make him feel loved. He was the greatest cat in the world and started to get some of his health back. He traveled to Michigan, twice, and everybody loved him. He fit in so well and mentored one of our younger cats. It felt like he was part of the family for years. Instead of 3-4 months, he lived with us for 19 months. He finally succumbed to his system shutting down. But he will always be in our hearts.
