Colby was about 6 weeks old, he was basically rescued from a flea market in Macon, GA. He was a little thing and these men were holding him up saying free puppy. He immediately caught my eye. I could tell he had boxer in him. I was raised with boxers and my parents had them before I was born. My husband and I went to the table and the man said some woman had gotten rid of all the other puppies but him. So she asked if they could get rid of him! I told my husband we can get a better home than they can. I worked with several animal rescues in the area. I named him Colby. Colby was full of fleas, worms and anemic. He was only 4 pounds. It took over an hour to de-flea him and several de-worming’s. We ended up keeping him because our 2 year old German Shepherd loved him. Colby and Drake loved to swim. Colby was like a fish and swam laps with me. Colby brother died from renal carcinoma cancer in 2016. Our Colby was diagnosed with lung cancer Dec. 2019 and had a 4 lb. tumor removed in April, 2020 from his left lung lobe. The cancer came back in his right lobe in July, 2020. Colby fought a brave fight, but the tumor started pressing on his trachea and his organs. It was time for us to tell Colby goodbye. See, we didn’t want him to suffer even though we loved him dearly. I lost my father to complications of Alzheimer’s in Feb. 2020 and now my Colby to cancer.
