When we first met Whiner, she was a stray kitten that had been left near our condo in the parking lot in Miami. She cried, talked, whined all the time but she seemed to love the attention she got from us thus the name Whiner. We snuck around at night and in the mornings because we weren’t supposed to feed her. She had a friend who we named Juniorette who was also homeless. We took care feeding them for months. They were like best friends, you never saw one without the other.
When we decided to leave Miami to move to Sebastian, we couldn’t leave them behind. We put them in boxes and brought them with us. We got here late one evening. Let them out of their boxes, Whiner settled down and seemed at ease with her surroundings. Juniorette unfortunately ran away. We couldn’t keep them in the house because we had another cat, Chessie, who didn’t want any other animals in her house.
Within a few weeks of being here, we realized Whiner was going to be a mom. She was moved into the garage, where she lived for a couple of months until we could get Chessie used to her. From then on, Whiner has been our little princess.
I did not know Whiner very long, but I knew she was very special – a unique personality. Even though she was already very ill when we met, she was so sweet and loving. You could just see it. I will never forget the first time I saw her outside and heard Pam and Ron call her in and she came right in like the good little girl that she was. She will be missed by all of us that knew her.
