Snickers July 8, 2008-March 16, 2023July 8, 2008, you were born, and we picked you up on Oct. 4, 2008, from a family in Winter Haven, a Saturday. We decided to name you Snickers because of your chocolate and tan coat, resembling a Snickers bar. We stopped at McDonalds for a snack, and it was the last and only time you didnt care that we were at a McDonalds. Everyone said you looked like a baby deer because of the shape of your head, your ears always pointing straight up and your long legs; longer than the average min pin. You loved going to the dog park and always wanted to run with  he big dogs. Only 17 pounds at your biggest, years later, but you thought you were one of the big dogs. We learned that you were a very smart dog, letting us know when you needed to go outside by pawing at the door, and then by wiping your feet to come back in. No matter what gates or fences we set up when we left for work, it never took long for you to figure your way out. Thank you for being a good guard dog, protecting us from the possums, squirrels and other critters. And you were the terror of all the lizards around the outside of the house. You were so proud when you caught one. You had so much to go through because of your health. First, there was trouble with your pancreas not producing the enzymes to digest your food, EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.) That required enzymes to be sprinkle on all your food. Soon after, diabetes followed, and that meant shots and special foods. Sorry about all those shots, two a day for almost 10 years. There was the tumor on your left side and the surgery that required, a scary time for us. You were brave, a fighter. That’s the same thing that led you to stretch the leash out on walks, always in front to pave the way and provide protection. Feeding raw chicken gizzards no doubt extended your life far beyond what diabetic dogs would expect, five times longer according to what weve read. We believe we were put into your life to do that. We already miss the sound of your toenails clicking on the floor and the jingling of your tags when you walked around the house. Everyone loves their own dogs, but, to us, you were the best dog ever. Thank you, so much. We love you Snickers you might had been just a dog to others, but you were family to us. Miss you so much and I hope we may see you again someday Snickers.
